As a mid-size university with 250 professorships and 19.000 students, 
the University of Bremen is one of eleven universities having been 
successful in the German Excellence Initiative. The Institute of 
Geography invites applications for the following academic position 
(under the condition of job release), starting October 1st 2017, ending 
September 30th, 2020:

Postdoctoral Researcher

The postdoc will work in the Climate Lab of the Institute of Geography 
(http://www.geographie.uni-bremen.de/en/climate-geography). Currently, 
the group’s research topics include glaciers, water availability, 
sea-level rise, and climate impacts.

We are looking for a scientist who is equally enthusiastic about climate 
research in an interdisciplinary and international setting and about 
teaching at both graduate (in English) and undergraduate (in German) 
levels in physical geography. The position requires teaching of 4 hours 
per week during the semester.

To apply successfully, you will:
- have a PhD in a field of Earth sciences with a strong background in 
quantitative methods, or a PhD in natural sciences with previous 
experience in an Earth science;
- have a publication record in peer-reviewed, international journals 
covering climate sciences;
- have skills in scientific programming (preferably R and/or Python);
- be able to teach in both German and English

It will be advantageous if you can demonstrate experience in:
- any of the specific research topics of the group mentioned above;
- maintaining automated weather stations;
- applying for competitive, external funding;
- teaching at university level.
