The International Network for Alpine Research Catchment Hydrology (INARCH) is sponsoring a mountain water cycle session at the upcoming GEWEX Open Science Conference. This session focusses on how advances in remote sensing, big data techniques and process understanding that are often developed in instrumented alpine research catchments inform mountain water cycling predictions. Papers are welcomed that advance mountain water and energy cycle modelling techniques, process understanding, observations, downscaling methods, and the impacts of a changing mountain cryosphere on water cycling. We hope that you can attend this conference in the stunning Canadian Rockies.

6-11 May 2018 | Canmore, Alberta, Canada

Abstracts Due 18 December 2017<http://clicks.aweber.com/y/ct/?l=G4TiU&m=3ch28W8n7Ewp_Rk&b=9uwUPoM7zTjySr0MlJZbIw>

The 2018 GEWEX Science Conference is structured around the topic of challenges confronting our ability to understand and predict changes in climate extremes and the availability of freshwater under the complex factors of natural variability, forced climate change due to human activities, and human management practices. The Conference will reflect research activities that advance the main themes of the GEWEX project and of the two WCRP Grand Challenges on “Weather and Climate Extremes” and “Water for the Food Baskets of the World.”

1.) Nexus of water, energy, and food
2.) Climate extremes
3.) Extreme weather
4.) Atmospheric modeling and observations 5.) Land modeling and observations
6.) Mountain and high latitude hydrology
7.) Global energy and water cycles

Abstracts for sessions falling under the seven Conference Themes are welcome. Sessions are listed at https://www.gewexevents.org/<http://clicks.aweber.com/y/ct/?l=G4TiU&m=3ch28W8n7Ewp_Rk&b=Ay7Myy25fnRqp4b0EnAIQw%20events/2018conference/program/>
