Dear Cryolist subscribers,
We are seeking a candidate for a 1-year temporary position in remote sensing at Section for Glaciers, Ice and Snow at the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE), Oslo, Norway.
NVE is developing services for using data from the Sentinel satellites for glacier and snow monitoring.
You will be working in our glaciology group in close cooperation with computer scientists and GIS specialists at NVE, in addition to the University of Oslo and the Norwegian Polar Institute.
Develop methods to derive glacier products from Sentinel data
Analysis and production of glacier data
Other tasks related to using Sentinel data at NVE
Master or ph.d in geosciences
Expertise in programming, GIS and remote sensing
Knowledge and experience with ArcGIS, Python, R, C#, ENVI, IDL or similar are advantageous
Good communication skills in English (good communication skills in Norwegian is an advantage)
