Dear Sir or Madam,

Could you pleas poster two anouncements on mailing list submissions?

Journal Advances in Polar Science: A few spare pages for article in the issue of Vol.29, No.4

As you know, APS is a peer-reviewed English-language journal, supported by the Polar Research Institute of China, which is dedicated to the presentation of multi-disciplinary achievements in Arctic and Antarctic expeditions and research. The journal is open access, available both on-line and as a free printed version, and there are no publication charges for authors. In addition, the Editorial Office offers a free, professional English-language service to improve the manuscripts of those authors whose first language is not English.
There are still a few spare pages for article in the issue of Vol.29, No.4, to be published in December 2018.
In 2017, APS has a new category of paper, the Opinion Editorial (Op-Ed). This, with a maximum length of 2 pages, provides a forum to comment on the status and/or deficiencies of any aspect of polar science, to reflect on recent innovation or progress, and to promote internationally collaborative polar science projects.
APS is an international, peer-reviewed journal sponsored by the Polar Research Institute of China (PRIC). It is a quarterly journal, circulated internationally (ISSN 1674-9928, CN 31-2050/P). As you know, APS is changing and improving with the establishment of the International Editorial Board with two new Co-Editors-in-Chief (Prof. Huigen Yang and Prof. Ian Allison), and a new expert team of 26 disciplinary Editors in June of 2015.
We welcome your involvement in APS’s future editions. We look forward to the submission of new manuscripts and for any suggestions of future “Special Issues” (which can be made via email to the editorial office at journal at pric.org.cn). We encourage you to share this announcement broadly with interested colleagues.

Call for Papers: Special issue ‘Polar or high-latitude sea ice sea ice observations and modeling in China and Norway’

Dear Colleagues,
We would like to invite you to submit manuscripts to a special issue of the journal Advances in Polar Science (APS) on “Sea ice observations and modeling in China and Norway”.

This special issue is an extension of “The 1st China-Norway bilateral workshop on Polar Observations and Modeling: Towards better operational Services for the Society”, held on 13-14 June 2018 in Tromso, Norway. The workshop was jointly initiated by National Marine Environmental Forecasting Centre (NMEFC) in China and MET Norway. The overall goal of the workshop was to establish new links between Norwegian and Chinese research institutes and exchange knowledge of polar observations and modelling towards better operational services for the society. We would here like to use this APS special issue to further enhance such collaborations through including more contributions in addition to the workshop, with a focus on sea ice studies.

The topics of the special issue shall be related to recent researches and activities on observations and modeling of polar or high-latitude sea ice. These researches and activities would include in situ observations, remote sensing, modeling and process studies, operational services and applications. Both research articles and review papers are welcome. However, submitted manuscripts, except for review papers, should be complete and adequately supported by original investigation; they should not be versions of communications submitted or published elsewhere. All manuscripts will undergo regular review by members of the Guest Editors and other appropriate experts.
