Dear Cryolist,
Could you please circulate the following message.
Thank you
Dave Roberts

Job Title : Postdoctoral Research Associate in Ice Sheet Modelling

Company : Durham University, UK
Department: Department Of Geography
Grade 7 (£32,548)

The Department of Geography, Durham University, is seeking to appoint a full-time Grade 7 post-doctoral research assistant (PDRA) for 2 years to work on a NERC-funded project designed to explore the past and future evolution of the Northeast Greenland Ice Stream.

Understanding the impacts of climate change on ice sheets and the subsequent changes to global sea-level over 100-1000yr timescales are key scientific and societal challenges. This project will focus on the NEGIS which controls the flow of ice from NE Greenland to the Atlantic from a drainage basin holding a sea-level equivalent of ~ 1.1m. This sector of the ice sheet is predicted to be vulnerable to climatic changes and understanding how it will evolve is critical for predicting rates of future global sea level rise. The overall aim of the project is to reconstruct the past behaviour of NEGIS in order to validate and test the sensitivity of models that predict ice sheet behaviour over 100-1000yr timescales.

For informal enquiries please contact Professor David Roberts (d.h.roberts at durham.ac.uk; Tel: +44 (0) 191 334 1955) or Dr Stewart Jamieson (stewart.jamieson at durham.ac.uk). All enquiries will be treated in the strictest confidence.
Closing date: 04-Apr-2018
